Alison Lilly, founder of LillyPuds, tells us more about her delicious Christmas puddings.
When & why did you establish LillyPuds?
I always had the LillyPuds name and had been making my Christmas pudding recipe for friends and family for many a year. In 2015, after being made redundant, I established LillyPuds and the rest, as they say, is history!
What makes LillyPuds different?
We use less sugar in our Christmas puddings as an ingredient – just 5%. Similar products contain 12 to 15%. We also do not use ghastly mixed peel instead we add lemon and orange zest to our puds. With a shorter steaming time, our puddings are lighter on the palate and scrumptiously fruity… the perfect ending to your festive meal.
What’s the best way to serve your puddings?
Our Christmas Pudding is delicious with brandy butter <don’t forget you can also order LillyPuds’ Brandy Butter from Curd & Cure>, clotted cream or a good vanilla custard. The perfect dessert wine to accompany our Christmas pud is a Muscat, rich and sweet or try a Damson Gin with a Plum Pudding!
If you weren’t in your current role, what you like to do instead?
Rest! Joking apart, I would love the opportunity to work in a Michelin star restaurant – can you imagine the buzz.

Where is your favourite place to visit & take some time out?
France… I love Bordeaux!

If you had to eat just one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Apart from Christmas Pudding, medium rare rib eye steak with Roquefort sauce – with sincere apologies to all our vegan followers!
