We are delighted to announce that Curd & Cure has secured the only UK stock of the newly crowned 2025 World Champion Cheese, Le Gruyère AOP Vorderfultigen Spezial, 18 months.

Produced by Switerland’s Bergkäserei Vorderfultigen, this classic Le Gruyère was crowned the Best Cheese in the World at the 37th World Cheese Awards organised by the Guild of Fine Food.

Beating more than 5,000 global entries to claim the most prestigious award in the industry, judges praised the cheese’s beautiful, crystalline texture and brothy, meaty umami flavour.

With the support of European Fine Cheese and our relationship with Gourmino, the prestigious Swiss Cheese Affineur that focuses on aging high-quality fine cheeses, Curd & Cure are the first UK wholesaler to secure this cheese in 2025.

It’s arrival in the UK marks a significant moment for buyers, retailers and food service operators seeking standout products with true world-class pedigree. Initial allocations were met with overwhelming demand and sold out within minutes.

Sales Manager and Head of Cheese at Curd & Cure, Patrick Spinazza said “We are absolutely thrilled to bring the world’s best cheese to the UK market. Securing the UK’s only stock is a major milestone for Curd & Cure and for our trade customers. It reflects our commitment to bringing the finest, most exceptional cheese to the UK market. This Le Gruyère doesn’t just taste incredible, it represents everything great cheese making should be – craftsmanship, heritage and unmistakable quality.

We will be taking pre-orders for Spring 2026 allocation. Given the international demand for the World’s Best Cheese, interested buyers are encouraged to register their interest early by contacting Patrick Spinazza on 07745203032.

A Quintessentially British Cheeseboard

A Great British cheese board is sure to be a hit with all,  and our extensive collection of cheeses includes a vast selection from some of the very best, hand picked British cheesemakers.

Specially for the Jubilee, Cheshire Cheese have released “Platinum Jubilee”, a four year old Extra Mature Vintage Cheddar available as 400g wheels.  Pair this with Hartington Creamery’s “Platinum Blue”, available as a 200g pre-pack wedge, and add some creamy Baron Bigod to complement, and you’ve got the starts of a delicious cheese or grazing board.

For those looking for a simple & waste free way to offer cheese and charcuterie boards, our Curd & Cure pre-packed British selections include pre-portioned cheeses and pre-sliced meats, meaning you just need to unwrap, plate and serve with no mess, and a guaranteed consistent portion size.

The Ultimate Street Party
What could be more British than a classic picnic spread or cold buffet as part of a street party or Jubilee celebration?  There are countless options within our Deli Tubs, pie and filling ranges, available both for retail & foodservice.

Alongside our ever-popular olives and med veg, our Deli Tubs range also includes pasta salads and couscous, providing a time saving, ready to serve option.  Serve straight from the tub, which may be resealed and kept in the fridge, or decant into your own bowls to give a more home made look.

For more cold treats, our pre-sliced Gala Pie is an excellent choice to display alongside our Deli Tubs, whilst Tailormade pies’ range includes pork piessausage rolls & quiches, all chilled and ready to serve.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a picnic without sandwiches and our pre-packed ham, chicken, turkey & beef provide a delicious filling, just add your favourite condiment and salad, slice & serve.  A super convenient option for retail, pre-priced and with handy shelf hangers for an easy way to display on shelf.

For the finishing touch, a good helping of snacks are always a good idea!  Kent Crisps are available in a choice of 7 delicious, locally inspired flavours, with selected varieties available in 150g sharing bags, great tipped into a bowl to serve alongside Ramona’s Heavenly Houmous.

And to keep everyone fuelled between feasting, Filbert’s nuts are a delicious option to offer as a snack or alongside drinks, with the range including cashews, peanuts, mixed nuts, olives and more.

A Very English Afternoon Tea

It goes without saying that desserts are certainly going form an important part of the celebrations, and with the British strawberry season now starting, don’t forget these all important pairings to take those sweet treats to the next level!

Flower & White’s twin pack meringues and meringue kisses provide a great base for Eton Mess & individual pavlovas, and are extra special when served with Coombe Castle’s Strawberry & Prosecco Cream.  Plus new for the Jubilee, their Salted Caramel Cream is a must-try, offering the perfect balance of sweet & savoury and a versatile option for desserts of all varieties!

We are passionate about supporting our British cheesemakers and one of our longstanding suppliers is Bookham Harrison Farms, who we have been working with for many years now. We caught up with Rob Bookham, Managing Director, to find out more about their delicious range of cheeses.

Tell us a brief history of the company
We started making cheese with an Italian family in 1996, making Twineham Grange, a vegetarian Parmesan, which was sold in Italy.

Why is your cheese different/special?
All our cheeses are different in their own way, for example for Sussex Charmer we have combined the recipes of a mature Cheddar recipe with that of an Italian Hard Style Cheese, creating a unique versatile cheese.

Which cheese are you best known for?
Sussex Charmer and Twineham Grange

Why did you choose to start making cheese?
I spent 3 years at agricultural college studying Farm Management and always had a passion for farm diversity. After college I started working on a farm in Twineham which was owned by an Italian family who made cheese in Italy. We soon started making cheese for the Italian market. I suggested that they ought to sell it in UK, but they were not interested, so with their blessing I started selling the cheese. The UK sales grew and I bought the Italians out. The rest, as they say, is history!

Have you won any awards or accolades you are proud of?
Sussex Charmer – best new dairy product at Nantwich International cheese awards 2008 and a subsequent 8 more Golds, Best British Cheddar 2017 at Quality Food awards

Any tips for how to use your cheese?
Sussex Charmer – Creamy, slightly dryer than a Cheddar and totally versatile.  Adds pedigree to the noblest of cheeseboards or simply makes the best cheese on toast.

What does a ‘normal’ day look like for you?
My day is full, I have a number of different enterprises from the cheesemaking, marketing, sales and a coffee shop too. During the summer months we have two Cheese on Toast trailers attending prestigious events such as Royal Ascot, Chelsea flower show etc.

If you weren’t in your current role, what you like to do instead?
I love classic cars and building things. Currently, I am building a 6 car garage from scratch. I enjoy spending time with my family and taking walks along the coastal paths of Pembrokeshire.

What is your favourite cheese in your range?
Sussex Charmer, because I love to see the sales grow and it becoming a firm favourite in many households. And its something we have invented.

Who do you take inspiration from and who do you look up to in the food & drink industry?
My Grandfather said to me when I was very young, if I made sure that everyone around me was happy, I would be truly happy.  Milk Link inspired me, as they understood farmers had to produce products rather than just sell milk. They were bought out by Arla who have the same ethos.

Other than your own cheese, what is your favourite cheese?
Are there other cheeses?

Where is your favourite place to eat?
The Horse Guards at Tillington, just outside Petworth.

What is the question you are asked most often about your cheeses?
Why is it vegetarian when it’s made from milk? It is the rennet which is vegetarian, traditionally this is made with an enzyme which is extracted from a dead calfs stomach. By using a vegetable based rennet, no animal has had to die, hence our cheeses are suitable for vegetarians. Italian Parmesan is made with animal rennet.

Any additional information you would like to tell us?
Customers are welcome to see our cows at Rudgwick and have a coffee and Charmer cheese on Toast at our Milk Coffee shop. As indeed you are too!

Find out more about Bookham Harrison Farms’ range on pages 18 & 81 of our Retail & Deli Brochure and page 19 of our Foodservice Brochure.

We are delighted to launch our 2021 Retail & Deli Brochure, which is available to view online & download here. We are also able to send out a hard copy as well as full price list, please get in touch to request your copy.

We would also like to say thank you for your support, suggestions, patience and kindness that you have shown our team who have worked so hard trying to deliver the best customer service possible. We are so grateful to be a part of such a supportive and friendly industry and are constantly looking at improvements we can make to help our customers and ways to introduce you all to new and inspiring ideas and products.

Despite the challenges that last year brought, our team managed to produce and launch a new brochure in summer 2020. This included many new products that were hugely successful additions to our range. Following this we asked our customers to complete a customer survey to help guide us on what you would like to see next. It was so humbling to hear some of the positive stories for independent retailers in our industry that have come out of such a difficult time.

Apart from the stories of success, we had many suggestions of new products you would like to see in our range. In the 2021 Retail and Deli Brochure we have paid attention to food trends and listened to what you have asked for and hope you are as excited as we are about the ranges we have chosen. These include many new local products, speciality cheeses, an expanded Deli Tub range, increase in vegan & plant-based products and a few other exciting treats that we just could not help bring in for you! All this alongside our core range of cheese, charcuterie and specialist food & drink.

Thank you again for supporting us in to 2021, from all the Curd & Cure team.

At Curd & Cure we have been increasingly aware of the problem of food waste and have seen the impact within our industry, particularly in the last year. As part of our fight, we have rescued ingredients that would otherwise be wasted, to create a new product. We are launching our Broccoli & Stilton Soup made with Kentish potatoes as part of our new own-brand range, called The Rescue Range.

The issue:

The impact of food waste is huge. Globally, one third of all food produced for human consumption is wasted from farm to fork. It has been found that fighting food waste is the number one solution to fighting the climate crisis not only fighting environmental impacts, but also social impacts improving access to healthy food to reduce food insecurity.

At Curd & Cure we work closely with local producers of artisan products, sharing their passion for ingredients and often time-consuming methods to produce products of the finest quality. When food is thrown away, all the resources that went into the making are also wasted.

Over this last year we have witnessed first-hand the impact of the pandemic on the food industry. At all points of the supply chain, food is being wasted due to the uncertainty and ever-changing circumstances of the pandemic. Wholesale and foodservice are at a critical tipping point. We have seen the loss of business within the hospitality sector with curfews, closures and lockdowns. After wholesalers and the foodservice sector bought in thousands of Christmas puddings before the closure of pubs over the Christmas period. More recently, the closure of schools in January was also announced with little warning, and amid chaos in Kent with the closure of the French border and uncertainty of the new Brexit rules. Not all wholesalers will survive this without sector-specific support.

The Rescue Range:

At Curd & Cure, we wanted to join in the fight against food waste and see what we could do to rescue food products which would otherwise be wasted. After learning about 240kg of Long Clawson Stilton which was destined to go to waste due to being at the end of its shelf life, we thought up The Rescue Range – it was #TooGoodToWaste!

We have collaborated with The Speedy Kitchen to rescue the stilton into a Broccoli & Stilton soup, also utilising the broccoli stem and leaves to ensure reduced waste even further. We have also worked with Provenance Potatoes to rescue Kentish potatoes from a surplus which has arisen due to the rejections in appearance including size and imperfections. These potatoes are usually sent for animal feed, however rescuing them for human consumption not only reduces the carbon footprint but also increases access to healthy food.

Our soup is also in support of the Sustainable Development Goal 12.3: Inspiring ambition and mobilising action to reduce food loss and waste globally and we are delighted that the launch of our new range coincides with Food Waste Action Week.

The Rescue Range is available to order now, for delivery from Tuesday 2nd March 2021.  For further information or to place your order, please call us on 01580 212949 or email orders@curdandcure.co.uk
